The Royal Feast

It was time for a family outing after a long lotng gap and this time, as per suggestions of my friends we went to Gurugram or Gurgaon and the place we were suggested to visit was the star mall. After our shopping and movie it was time for lunch and there wasn’t much choice in the mall and as we were all interested in having Mughlai food we went to Zaffran.

Located on the lower ground floor of the star mall which is on the National Highway. This restaurant had two entrances one from. Inside the mall and other exclusively for their guests who didn’t necessary had to go to the mall.

The ambience of this 60 seater restaurant were very pleasant and even my nine month old daughter enjoyed herself. They had a huge window with a view of the kitchen honestly I love this open kitchen concept, where you can see fresh food being prepared right in front of your eyes.

There wasn’t much footfall in the mall but the restaurant was doing brisk business. The menu was simple with veg food on one side of the plank and on veg on the other side and we ordered ourselves lots of different appetisers and gravies.

#Mutton Seekh kebabs – these melt in the mouth minced lamb meat seekh were heavenly. They were very soft and juicy.

#Lehsuni Murg tikka- was the highlight of the day, as the name suggests they were marinated in yogurt along with lots of garlic and cashew nut paste, they were simply divine. It’s a Must Order dish.

#Chicken Churga in layman terms was basically Tandoori chicken. The chicken was spicy and the flavours were marvellous.

#Amritsari Fish- batter fried river sole fish, I couldn’t get the flavours, but the fish was fresh and juicy. This is one dish that we didn’t like and it needs improvement.

We ordered for some mock tails as they didn’t have a liquor license two drinks that were refreshing and stood out were Aam Panna and the Mojito which were both brilliant

For the Main course we ordered LaL mirch parantha and garlic naans along with
#Rara Mutton- thick keema gravy with brilliantly cooked succulent mutton which was falling off the bone, loved the lamb shanks.

#chicken tikka masala – boneless chicken chunks in onion and Tomato gravy was the star dish Punjabi style, high on flavours and super delicious. Again a Must Order gravy.

#laal maas – mutton ribs slow cooked in mildly spiced gravy Rajasthani style . It was very average stuff in comparison to the one I had at Niros Jaipur. Avoidable.

#Tari wala Murg – home style chicken curry made with curd, tomato and onions, very well break from the heavy gravies, it was a spicy gravy and very well appreciated by all.

For desserts we tried the Gulab jamun which were soft melt in mouth and Phirni was rich and finger liking, they were both fabulous even my nine months old enjoyed the Phirni.
